AD sector calls on Council to accept food waste in plastic bags
Lets Recycle http://www.letsrecycle.com/news/latest-news/ad-sector-calls-for-flexibility-on-carrier-bags/ have reported that Anaerobic Digestion (AD) plant operators have spoken out in favour of allowing residents to present food waste in plastic bags in an attempt to increase the waste submitted for collection.
Experts in the AD industry feel that the requirement by Councils that householders use compostable bags rather than any plastic bag is unnecessary as AD plants are designed to deal with the removal of both degradable and plastic liners.
This change would be beneficial where householders cannot compost their food waste.

Very informative site. Having been away for 5 weeks and returning to evidence of rats under and around the compost bin, I can testify to lack of human activity allowing the rats to get comfortable.
